UAD Doctoral students Michela Mir, M.S., CCC-SLP, and May Smith-Sherry, M.A., CCC-SLP each presented original research at this year’s annual meeting of the Dysphagia Research Society. Michela presented he project entitled Respiratory-Related Sensory Decline and Swallow Safety in People with Parkinson’s disease, and May presented Airway protection following unilateral DBS in parkinson’s disease: Does hemisphere make a difference? The meeting, which was virtual this year due to the COVID pandemic, featured national and international researchers in the field of swallowing and swallowing disorders.
